Mirador Sayil
Here we are at the mirador in Sayil. I've already blogged this, so, in brief, mirador is the spanish word for scenic overlook (sort of) and there's one at many of (I suspect probably all of) the Puuc Maya cities. I think they all had statues at one time. Maybe. And I don't know what purpose they served, but I guess that were like billboards for the ruling families of the cities. Which really makes me wonder, again, what it would have been like to live then. I want to know what these miradores looked like in mint condition when new. I should just give in to all these questions and buy a few archaeology books and find out for myself.
