the coolest thing about my family...

...is that they willingly cooperate in making pyramids for pictures!

Some family portraits

This is from Thanksgiving 2007, the day before my birthday. We went downtown to a cutesy little place and ate eggy-but-good beignets. And then we set to photo-documenting.

I say it's my birthday...

Da duh duh duh duh da daaaaaa da dum (sing to the tune of the Beatles song). I was 39 this day. Woo-Hoo!

More Halloween 2007

At work. Some of us always dress up for Halloween. We are the champions, my friend.

Oops! 2 more party pictures

I found two more pictures from the second party. But nobody's wearing the cool hats.

Last of the party pictures

And even more of the coolest of the cool people who wore the party hats and risked their very lives in ambushing Luis for his birthday. The last picture is my attempt at artsy-fartsy photography.

in funny hats

I think everybody at this party is probably the coolest person on earth since they all wore the party hats! It takes a heroic amount of cool-i-osity to wear a party hat strapped to your head with elastic.

Kung-Fu reaction

When Luis turned the light on and everybody jumped out from hiding and yelled "YAAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!" he reacted the way any highly trained martial artist would: He nearly kicked Rodrigo's ass (who happened to be the closest to him). What fun, what fun.

Bad picture of car

We pretended to have to go back to Ginger and Luis's house to meet somebody. Here is almost a picture of Kirsten and Mike in their car beside us on the way there.

Ice Cream Cake

Second cake. Ice cream. Luis is still in the dark about the upcoming surprise party.

Surprising Luis and Kirsten AGAIN!

Luis had no clue that we had planned a second surprise party. We took him to Kirsten and Mike's and told him we were going to a movie. Note how innocent and unsuspecting he appears. Kirsten didn't know either, heh heh.

Birthday Boy!

Here's Luis bright and early on his 37th birthday!

Luis stayed home

So I had to leave out a lot between these two pictures. There's a lapse of about 8 hours, during which time some undergraduate-type behaviour occurred. Some public urination, some vomit, and Ginger awoke with a strange mark on her hand that we attributed to an invitation to party with the band after the show (but I can't be sure about that, I just seem to remember it). It's not stigmata, in any case.

After the show

Happy Birthday Kirsten!

Hobnobbing with the band

Since Kirsten wouldn't be cajoled into climbing onto the stage to join the band, the band came off the stage to join her! Or at least the main singer did.

My Sister...the Rock Star!

This picture just might be worth the cost of the entire trip.

Ginger on Stage

I ran down to the stage for a better view, and was able to get this shot. Ginger is making a seriously funny face, I love the way her eyes kind of glow red :)

Birth of a Rock-Star

So, there I was in the balcony, and I saw my sister climb up onto the stage. Isn't she cool?

Brief interruption...

Before I post the amazing thing that happened at the Southern Culture on the Skids show, I thought I'd post this cinematographic feast: two guests demonstrating their newly acquired belly dancing moves before we left for the concert:

SCOTS

I had to relocate to a balcony to ward off arrhythmia. Yes, that's Ginger at the front, waving her little hands in the air with Kirsten right beside her. And then. Something amazing happened...

Inside the theater

We walked in and Ginger and Kirsten rushed the stage. It was ridiculously loud, but I've never really dug loud music. Of course they wanted to stand within inches of the massive wall of amplifiers. I could feel the rythm of the band competing with my pulse.

Before the concert

We loaded up and went to see Southern Culture On The Skids. Here are some of the pictures from the parking garage before we went in.

Photos of party people

More cute pictures. I think they were saluting 1970 in the second one.

People at party

Okay, so I'm not Annie Liebowitz. But I like random pictures at parties. So here are a few more.
