Among-us, the fungus

I took Gilligan out at 8:30 PM for his last perambulation of the day. We got half a block from home when I saw these. It had rained buckets last night and this morning, so I guess all the rain brought these mushrooms. After our walk, I grabbed the camera and dragged Gilligan back to the yard two houses down to get this picture. It was just too cool not to photodocument. Unfortunately, all the rain has made a funky smell in my apartment. It is a very unpleasant smell and I suspect that it comes from a very wet dog getting some of the very old furniture wet. But I can't identify the source within the apartment. Oh well. At least these pretty mushrooms are nice - and kinda spooky.

Brain Fruit

I took Gilligan to the dog park today and we found these. There were 2 trees beside a pond at the dog park that were FULL of these things that looked like brains. The dog park here in Memphis is a huge pasture with ponds and there's not a double gate. It's almost like home for Gilligan and he LOVED it!!! When we got there, Gilligan ran down the hill and jumped into the closest pond. He swam the rest of the time we were there. I didn't realise that he liked to swim that much. Next time I'll bring the camera.

Gilligan becomes a TN dog...

Gilligan is adjusting well to a caged life in an apartment without a doggie door. We go out for walkies at least 4 times a day. In the second picture if you look to the left just ahead of us, you can see the frat house where we had to go to borrow a phone and a phone book when I locked us out. In the third, if you look carefully over Gilligan's back, you can see one of the University of Memphis signs. Gilligan gets to choose the route, but we never go more than 2 blocks away from home base because he gets VERY tired. In the fourth picture you can see our apartment building ahead and across the road. We are almost home. Gilligan is exhausted. In the last picture you can see our front door on the walkway above. Gilligan did not want to go up the big steps and led me around to the shallower steps. My sweet geriatric doggie. I love him.

NFL star and us

I am not much of a sports fan. But apparently this guy, Chris Gray, has had the longest NFL career of anybody from the Homewood High School class of '88. He's a heavy dude, but we managed to lift him anyway :)

Class of '88!

Due to Luis's not being able to attend, I accompanied Ginger to her 20th high school reunion. And let me tell you it was FUN!!!!
I found out that my class (class of '86) DID have a 20th reunion but nobody told me about it. Hmmmph! I'd rather be a member of the class of '88 anyway!

If you think you recognise the people in the picture, you do!!!!

My retirement gift...

I was excited about my going-away gift. The gang knew that I needed a good computer chair, so they pulled together and sacrificed for this fine specimen. It was too much, though. I just couldn't accept it.

uncategorized ex-coworkers

I love these two also. But I'm still glad to be leaving that job :)

Bye-Bye Bosses

They may have been my bosses, but I liked them anyway.

More ex-coworkers

Last two counselors I had to say Bye-Bye to.

Bye Bye Counselors

Oops! I can't fit everybody in this post. I'll have to add another counselor post. Anyway, here I am with most of my fellow counselors. Charlotte wasn't there that day.

Bye Bye 'Done

Me with the front office people. I will miss them a lot, but maybe they'll come to visit.

Done with the 'Done (Methadone, that is)

Here I am saying goodbye to the nurses and dosing room staff at the clinic on my last day. I won't name names in order to protect the innocent.

Dog Days of Camper Life

I am moving to Memphis. Actually, I already have moved to Memphis. But, I photodocumented my life just before the move. A sort of memorial tribute to the camper - soon to be removed if not burned to the ground, and to my job as a counselor at the local methadone clinic. But first, this picture of Gilligan enjoying his new orthopaedic dog bed in a tragically bare camper. How tiny the camper looks. I can't believe I lived there for so long.
